Becket

After their undying, if unequal, friendship is put to test in favour of integrity and honour, with Thomas Becket, now the Archbishop of Canterbury, returning the ring of four lions to his king, thus telling that their friendship is over, Henry the Second, the proud king, declares his true feelings for his friend. A moving scene from the classic ‘Becket’ with Peter O’Toole roaring as the king (he played the same role in another magnificent film, ‘The Lion in Winter’; and when he speaks it’s mesmerising, and here he gets to speak all through the running time), and Richard Burton as solid as a rock as the titular Becket, for whom God’s work is more important the king’s whims...
