The erotic scenes dominated the conversations so much during the release of the film that it effectively derailed the impact of this superbly crafted, slow-burning tale of duty and ambition at war with love at its most primal. In Lee’s vision, love tries its damndest but fails to conquer all. And, villains have hearts too. And, ah, those lovemaking scenes… one of the best in world cinema.
