Bengaluru Poetry Festival Hangover/16/ Fan boy Moment. With Jahnavi Barua (‘Next Door’, ‘Rebirth’). When Shiny Antony introduced me to her, I literally lost my voice. It was so unexpected, so pleasant, not just because both of us are from Assam, and I admire her work, but because, she once like a story I wrote. After the story was published in Reading Hour (now sadly defunct), the editor and all-round wonderful person, Vaishali wrote me a mail, confidentially, saying that she like the story called ‘The Scent of Ripen Guava’. Fast-forward all these years, as I still struggle to find a publisher for my fiction, I have been carrying the content of that email as my guiding light, a reminder not to lose hope. Now that I told Jahnavi-baideu about the mail, I think I can breach the confidentiality.
