In Pixar Animation Studio’s new film ‘Brave’ (2012), which was marketed as the studio’s first film with a female lead, the protagonist, Merida, a Scottish princess with candyfloss, flaming orange hair, doesn’t want to get married; because she values her freedom to go on adventures. When her parents, especially her mother, arrange a game to select a groom for the princess, Merida enters the arena and joins in the game, demanding that she would be fighting for her own hand; that would solve all the problems, of course.
