Out!

Couldn’t contain it anymore... I need to tell you this... Now...

...Very proud to be part of this wonderful book, ‘Out! Stories From The New Queer India’, incisively edited by the meticulous (and the best editor I’ve ever met) Minal Hajratwala, and handsomely produced by Queer Ink, the online bookstore for the LGBTIQ community, and the courageous Shobhana S Kumar... And such august company...

Unlike the queer literature usually published in India, which are mostly either historical retellings, or non-fiction or politically motivated, ‘Out!’ tells stories of the people here and now, the real people with real expectations, trying to make sense in a worldview, which at best, is ignorant....

The book contains 29 pieces of fiction and non-fiction by an array of authors, established and newcomer, of different hue, of different orientations, of different everything, telling their stories... Here’s a few names off the cuff — R Raj Rao, Juthika Nagpal, Ashish Sawhny, Meher Pestonji, Gazal Dhaliwal, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Sandip Roy, Frank Krishner and Ashley Tellis...

And, there I am... My story is called ‘A Married Man’... And, I feel exhilarated.
