Maqbool Fida Husain
What exactly the death of Maqbool Fida Husain in faraway London, and the eulogies that followed, and how his family refused to get his mortal remains back to the country of his birth, tell about us as a country and as a community. Just one word: Intolerant. Now that Husain is dead, the joke is on us. Whatever we may do and say, the history will remember Husain for his genius. And those of us, who opposed him because of his disrespectful attitude towards our Gods, and because he hurt our ‘sentiments’, nobody will remember us, not even our Gods.
